Super Healthy Blackberry Smoothie (Vegan, Sugar-free, Gluten-free)
One of the reasons that summer is my favorite season is that it’s also blackberry season. Altough, you have to wait a relatively long time to harvest blackberries but it’s totally worth it. Blackberries are great. They are super food quality and they are even healthier than blueberries! So awesome.
Also, I’d like to mention, how beautiful black color they are. And shiny. So very pretty.
So lately I’ve been very big on milkshakes. I put a few icecubes in a very tall glass and fill it with the creamy fruity deliciousness. It cools me down even in the hottest weather and fills me up in the morning. I have a lot more energy when I start my day off with fruits. I usually don’t even get hungry until lunch.
There are a few blackberry bushes in our garden, and yesterday I noticed that they were fully ripe, so I was really happy. Instantly I had to think of something to use them in. I didn’t need much time, to decide. 😉
You don’t need any sweetener in this drink, because the half overripe banana makes it perfectly sweet enough. (Okay, if you have a huge sweet tooth, you can use 1/2 tbsp maple syrup).
Depending on how thick you like your milkshakes/smoothies, you can put less or more blackberries in it. If you are feeling extra health-conscious, you can use half a cup of spinach even. You won’t even taste it. But, anyways. Here is the recipe, I hope it will brighten your day! 🙂
