Let me tell you a short, but funny story. The other day I was making apple-peanut butter energy balls and I needed grated apple for the recipe.

Now, I noticed that a LOT of “apple juice” was in the bowl after I took the apple bits out. It looked mouthwatering. So, i drank it. Straight from the bowl. And boy oh boy did it taste heavenly.

I mean store bought apple juice got nothing on this liquid that comes straight from an apple and into your mouth.

In that moment I promised myself that I would make a decent amount in the near future (with a more efficient method of course).

So I started thinking about the tools I could use to extract the sweet nectar and since I don’t own a juicer I decided to go with a nut milk bag.

I mean sure nut milk bags are supposed to be used for nut milks (DUH) but I was like, what’s the harm in using apple puree instead of almonds, right? So yeah, it totally works.

I peeled 10 medium sized apples and cut them into chunks. Then I put half of the chunks in a food processor and pureed them (as seen above).

When I had my apple puree, I put the nut milk bag in a medium sized tall plastic container (any tall container will do really) and spooned the puree into it.

After all the puree is in the nut milk bag, squeeze it gently all over until all the liquid is out.

Now repeat with the second half of the apples. When all apple juice is in the container, put a funnel into a tall glass bottle and pour the juice in it through a strainer.

This makes sure that there will be no apple bits in your drink.

And you’re done! You have just made your very own homemade apple juice. A sweet nectar that is perfectly healthy, full of nutrition and other goodies!

About the measurements. 10 medium sized apples resulted in 2 cups of apple juice for me. So if you want to make less or more, it’s a good starting point.

You can also use it in cakes, smoothies and a lot of other delicious treats!

Pro tip: if you put a hint of cinnamon in your apple juice, you have the perfect Christmas morning drink! 😉

Happy drinking!
