These vegan Peanut Butter & Jam Banana Bites are the healthiest snacks ever. Clean eating, kid-friendly and ready in 2 minutes! Yumm!
It all started when I decided to lose a bit of weight.
You have to know, that I can only eat sweet things in the mornings. And it’s not even optional.
I have to eat something sweet or I’m just grumpy and very sad all day. When I started dieting, I chose a vegan clean eating diet of course.
I couldn’t decide for the life of me what to have for breakfast. I mean, I made smoothies and oatmeal and such, but I got bored of those, REAL quick.
I was desperately searching for something that would satisfy my morning cravings (without actual sugar and white flour, etc…).
The idea of PB & J fruit sandwiches came to me in a dream, I think.
I was probably suffering “bad”, so my body just wanted to help me out.
But this actually delicious breakfast/snack idea was born. Months later and I’m still eating it and it’s still good.
A few notes on the ingredients, though.
Peanut butter. Now, peanut butter is great.
But not when you choose a brand that’s full of sugar and palm oil and other horrendous ingredients I can’t even pronounce properly.
Choose a brand, that’s JUST peanut butter. I swear it’s so much better and more flavorful than these other ones.
Jam. Jam can either be an awesome, healthy food hack, or a sugar-ridden bad life decision.
You can buy jam that has several percentages of fruit in them. I would say, in general do not go under 50% fruit content.
That’s usually fruit-flavored sugar.
Do go for 75% or more, or the best you can do is just make your own at home, from any fruit+chia seeds.
So, that’s about it.
I always buy organic bananas, but that’s just my own thing. I would say that apples for just as well for this recipe (although bananas are sweeter.) Let me know if you tried it! 🙂
